Xreal Aura, Surface Laptop Ultra, Pixel 11 Pro Deal and More

Xreal's Aura glasses open for pre-order alongside a pricier Surface Laptop Ultra, a discounted Pixel 11 Pro, and new budget phones from vivo and iQOO.

This week’s hardware news spans five very different price tags. The Xreal Aura glasses lead the pack as the most ambitious launch of the bunch. This story follows Xreal Aura Surface Laptop.

Xreal Aura Surface Laptop: Xreal Aura Android XR Glasses Go Up for Pre-Order

Xreal started taking reservations for the Aura back in June. Now reservation holders can place an actual pre-order, according to GSMArena.

The rollout begins in the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. Xreal says more regions will follow soon.

Pricing splits into two tiers:

  • $1,279 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage
  • $1,499 for 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage

Both versions use an Optical See-Through display with a 70-degree field of view. That number matters more than most spec sheet entries.

A narrow field of view makes virtual content feel like a floating window. A wider one makes it feel like part of the room. Xreal’s 70 degrees sits well above typical consumer AR glasses, though still short of dedicated headsets like the Quest line.

The real question is whether Android XR software catches up to the hardware. Google has pushed Android XR as its answer to visionOS, but app support remains thin. Spending $1,279 on Xreal Aura glasses only makes sense if you actually use them daily, not just for the occasional demo.

I’d call this one for early adopters only. Mainstream buyers should wait for a second generation and a deeper app catalog.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra: A Premium Bet on Nvidia Silicon

Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra at Computex months ago. Pre-orders are finally open, as GSMArena reports.

The laptop starts at $2,599. Open sales begin October 16.

Nvidia’s RTX Spark SoC powers the Surface Laptop Ultra. Microsoft clearly positions it against Apple’s rumored MacBook Ultra, not the standard MacBook Pro.

That starting price puts it firmly in workstation territory. Microsoft sweetens the deal with up to $1,000 cashback for customers trading in an eligible MacBook Pro.

That trade-in incentive tells you who Microsoft is chasing. This is a direct pitch to creative professionals currently locked into Apple’s ecosystem.

Whether Nvidia’s chip delivers enough performance to justify switching remains unproven. We have no independent benchmarks yet. Until reviewers get their hands on units, treat the marketing claims with healthy skepticism.

Google Pixel 11 Pro Gets a Real Discount

The Pixel 11 Pro launched at $1,100, a price that never made much sense. As GSMArena notes, the 6.3-inch flagship tier only includes the Galaxy S26 and iPhone 18 Pro as direct rivals.

Amazon now cuts $250 off that price, a 23% reduction. That lands the phone much closer to where it should have debuted.

Google addressed real complaints with this generation. Battery life improves noticeably over the 2025 model, and charging speeds pick up slightly.

Here is where things get interesting for value shoppers. At full price, the Pixel 11 Pro struggled to justify itself against Samsung and Apple.

At $850, it becomes a legitimately smart buy for anyone who wants a smaller flagship. If you were on the fence, this deal is the moment to act.

vivo T6x and iQOO Z12x: Same Phone, Two Names Again

Budget shoppers have seen this pattern before. vivo and iQOO sold the same device as the T5x and Z11x back in March, according to GSMArena.

Now both brands prep a sequel. Bluetooth SIG certification confirms the vivo T6x (model V2652) and the iQOO Z12x (model I2604) exist.

Certification only proves Bluetooth compatibility, not identical hardware. Still, the naming pattern and timing strongly suggest another rebadge.

This strategy works fine for BBK Electronics, the parent company behind both brands. It lets vivo and iQOO target slightly different retail channels without extra engineering cost.

For buyers, the lesson is simple. Compare both models before purchasing, because one frequently costs less for identical specs.

Xreal Aura Surface Laptop: Oppo Find X10 Series Heads Global

Oppo’s Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max launched in China in late September. Global availability starts October 21, as GSMArena reports in its hands-on coverage.

The Pro Max is the larger of the two, mostly due to its bigger display. The gap between models isn’t huge, though. Even the standard Find X10 skips the compact category entirely.

One caveat worth flagging: global units, especially European ones, could ship with smaller batteries than the Chinese versions. Oppo has done this before with regional variants.

Buyers outside China should wait for confirmed specs before assuming parity with the launch units.

Xreal Aura Surface Laptop: The Bottom Line

This week’s roundup shows a market stretching in opposite directions at once. Xreal and Microsoft chase premium, speculative bets on new form factors and silicon.

Meanwhile, vivo, iQOO, and Oppo grind out incremental updates in crowded, price-sensitive segments. Google, for its part, simply fixed a pricing mistake.

For buyers deciding where to spend:

  • Skip the Xreal Aura glasses unless you have a specific daily use case in mind
  • Wait for third-party benchmarks before committing to the Surface Laptop Ultra
  • Grab the discounted Pixel 11 Pro if a compact flagship fits your needs
  • Compare vivo and iQOO pricing directly once the T6x and Z12x launch
  • Hold off on Find X10 judgments until global battery specs confirm

Pair any of these phones with a durable phone case (paid link) to protect your investment while screen protector debates rage on forums everywhere. Value, as always, depends less on specs and more on what you actually do with the device.
